Why isn’t my hair growing very long?
Hair growth is quite individual as there are many factors that affect it such as genetics and environmental factors. Hair has a growth cycle of approx 24-48 months, and grows approx 1cm per month. So depending on the individual your hair will grow to 24-48cm long before it falls out. Some people have a longer hair growth cycles, (up to 7-10 years) and so they can grow their hair to great lengths. Your hair growth cycle is genetic, and that is a fact, so you can’t make your hair grow for a longer period of time. The only other way to get longer hair is to make your hair grow faster during the 24-48 month growth cycle.
How do I make my hair grow faster?
Did you know that your hair growth is affected by your metabolism? Yes ma’am! Your expanding hips and your hair growth are a direct result of your metabolism...lol. If you sped up your metabolic rate, not only would you lose a couple of pounds, but you could speed up hair growth as well. Hot diggity dog! Exercising while eating a high protein diet with good levels of zinc and iron could make all the difference in your hair growth. Supplements such as MSM and Biotin have also been known the stimulate hair growth.
How do I make my hair happier?
We can all agree that there is no point in growing your kinky, curly and wavy hair to great lengths if it looks like crap. Be kinder to your strands for maximum length retention and overall health. Consider staying away from direct heat, tight braids & weaves and harsh hair colouring systems. If we can avoid external stresses on the hair while treating the hair from the inside, you will give your hair a fighting chance at reaching your waist or longer. Weekly deep conditionings and hot oil treatments can only help your cause at the end of the day, so add them to your hair regimen and make those strands happy!
