Make It Monday: 2 DIY Options for Clarifying Your Hair

By . - Monday, August 17, 2015

Most of us that use oils, hair butters, gels and curling puddings on our hair will most likely need a clarifying treatment by the end of the month. These products that I mentioned tend to build-up on the scalp and hair, and their hair can no longer receive much needed to moisture. There are many shampoos in the market that can achieve this squeaky clean hair, but they tend to be too harsh on the strands. Try these DIY recipes if you are keen to do it the all natural way.

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse
Tools:
  • 8 oz applicator bottle
  • 2-3 oz of ACV
  • warm water
  • tea tree essential oil (Optional)

Directions:
  • Fill your bottle with ACV, the rest with water.
  • Add a few drops of your essential oils of choice.
  • Shake it up, massage it in, let it sit for a few minutes and rinse well with cool water.

Baking Soda Rinse
Tools:
  • spray bottle
  • one (1) tbsp. baking soda
  • 1.5 cups of warm water

Directions:
  • Place your ingredients in the bottle and shake it up well.
  • If your hair is long or really thick, feel free to double the ingredients but don’t add more baking soda unless you add more water.
  • The mixture should be liquidy, not grainy.
  • Spray onto the scalp and hair, massage it in, leave on for about three minutes then rinse thoroughly.

Try one of these two treatments once a month and let your hair flourish.
