Blow Drying Natural Hair

By . - Monday, June 24, 2013

If you have ever wanted to blow dry your hair at home but didn't know where to start, this post is just for you. Check out the 3 methods that I have outlined in this post and choose what suits you best!

General Blow Drying Tips For Everyone

  • Avoid blow drying dripping wet hair. Only blow dry t-shirt dried hair that is damp.
  • Always apply a heat protectant to damp hair before blow drying.
  • Always blow-dry in small sections for the best results.

Methods For Blow Drying Natural Hair

1. The Tension Method

Create tension with one hand and blow dry with another. This picture does not show the blow dryer with a concentrated nozzle, but I definitely recommend it for better results.

2. The Comb Attachment Method

If your kinks, coils, and curls don't mind a comb, then this method is the one for you. Remember to use small sections that are damp for a straighter result.

3.The Brush and Tension Method

This method is just like the original tension method, but instead of your hand creating the tension it's a brush! You can use a round brush like the woman in the picture, or you may opt for a Denman, paddle or blow drying brush. It's really up to you! Your results should be straight with lots of bodies.

Remember that applying heat comes with a bit of risk. Use your common sense.

Have a Good Hair Day and remember to Love Your Hair!!!
