I've decided to go back into another 8 week protective style. I've decided on a sew in weave and I'll reveal pictures by Friday 12 April 2013.

I'm growing my hair to APL (armpit length) as my next goal for June, and I want to get aggressive and really give my hair the extra nudge it needs to retain enough length. I decided to add a challenge to my protective style.

I am challenging YOU to use castor oil for 8 weeks straight and retain that length!

This challenge runs from
12 April 2013  to 31 May 2013

RULES

  1. Apply castor oil to a freshly washed scalp at least once per week
  2. Massage the scalp for 1 minute after applying the castor oil
  3. Apply castor oil to your hairline EVERYDAY!
  4. Pre-poo with castor oil using the baggy method overnight the day before your wash day.
  5. Seal moisture into your hair with castor oil at least every other day

Keep this up for 8 weeks and I believe that you will achieve softer, stronger and thicker hair. The challenge starts this Friday, so run out and buy your first bottle of castor oil at Clicks, DisChem or your local health food store if you live in South Africa.

Will you be joining me in the 8 Week Castor Oil Challenge? Let us know in the comment section below.

  5. I'm definitely joining in this time! Fortunately for me, I just bought a bottle last week:). I have a question regarding the protective hairstyle tho. Is there any hairstyle I can do that doesn't require me to use any sort of extensions or weave? Kinda bummed abt it since I've never used these before

  9. Hey I found this on another Castor Oil challenge just thought I would share so we don't get discouraged. Some of you may have noticed your scalp was excessively itchy this week – if this is the case, don’t be alarmed. The first time you start to use castor oil it has to detoxify your scalp. Once this is done, you shouldn’t have any more itching. However, if the itching is unbearable and you are scratching so much that you are causing your scalp to tear, blend your castor oil with another carrier oil (coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil) until your scalp gets accustom to the intensity of the castor oil.
