What does my hair need? - Protein, Moisture, Both or None

The Hair Test
  1. Grab a wet piece of your hair, preferably a long piece, and twist the ends of the hair around your index fingers.
  2. If the hair stretches but shrinks back after releasing tension, your hair has a good moisture and protein balance. Congratulations! Keep to your regimen.
  3. If the hair stretches a lot and does not shrink back, you need to add protein to your regimen to correct this.
  4. If the hair breaks as soon as you try to stretch it, you need to add more moisturizing treatments to your regimen.
  5. If the hair stretches and breaks, then you may want to try adding a better protein and moisture balance to correct this. Perhaps alternating between moisturizing and protein based deep conditioning weekly.
So you diagnosed what your hair needs are, but your not really sure if the conditioners you have in your cabinet are protein or moisture based.
